Control Strategies, Control Systems and Estimators

SimuQuest has developed a number of algorithms (and corresponding plant models). These plant and algorithm models, implemented in native Simulink, are commercially available and have saved clients a lot of valuable development time.

Base Engine Control

EngControl1

This base strategy can be easily calibrated to run an engine.  It is supplied as a library of components including an example fully integrated Simulink model utilizing UniPhi for data and architecture management.  The library is arranged as a logical feature architecture.  The integrated model implements a scheduling scheme that includes time and event based threads thus emulating a typical production scheduler for engine control.  You can modify the scheduling and architecture to meet your specific needs.  A calibration guide is also provided describing each calibration parameter and calibration table and a step by step procedure for calibration.

In-cylinder Aircharge Estimation

Implement production-intent accurate transient fuel control using model-based air-charge estimation with minimum calibration effort.

Applications:

  • PFI/DI gasoline engine control systems
  • Variable valve timing systems
  • Variable valve lift systems

Stay ahead of your competition. Eliminate uncertainty in the air path of your transient fuel control scheme while minimizing the use of scarce resources and expensive test infrastructure. Enjoy virtually unlimited portability across control applications with very different and continually changing system specifications. Let a smart, adaptive technique take care of all your algorithm calibration needs. Test and validate the entire fuel control scheme in Simulink.

Key Features:

  • Real-time adaptation of volumetric efficiency within a few engine cycles
  • Physics-based: minimum calibration effort
Transient Fuel Control (PFI)

Accumulation of fuel on the intake port walls leads to A/F-Ratio excursions during transient engine operation.

The challenge is the calibration effort to map the impact factor and evaporation rate for different engine operating conditions. SimuQuest’s transient fuel algorithm manages the fuel puddles for each individual cylinder.
